MAP is currently delivering a Creative Partnerships project at Beckstone Primary School in Harrington. We have called the project Time to Imagine in which we use drama and a variety of art techniques to provide opportunities for:

• inclusive activities that are not dependent on learning ability
• active learning with children moving their bodies and using their imaginations freely
• each child to focus on their individual imagination
• developing a teaching and learning tool for teachers that can embrace a variety of subjects

Our rationale is based on a child centred approach to learning and the way the imagination can be used to put creativity at the core of all curriculum subjects.
It is a research project through which we can take risks and evaluate how it works with the teachers.
Imagination is at the heart of the thinking behind this project and therefore the outcomes remain open-ended. For example the children in Years 1 and 2 have created an installation based on patterns and objects from the 1950’s as part of their history curriculum.
