Di Clay and Jane Dudman
Di’s and Jane’s collaborative works have been developing over the last five years. They have involved using both their own recorded voices and external sounds in a live art context. They include video projection, live and recorded sound as well as live action.
The work is usually durational and has included viewers contributing to the performance. Beginning with individual recordings of their own voices they have produced performances that explore their shared concerns about communication and environment
‘the communication aspect of what we’ve done has been really interesting’
‘somehow passing things between me and you’
‘it was like we were doing something very meaningful between us’
‘actually what we’re doing is looking, considering, responding, making an environment - we are claiming a space - we are together with each other’
‘we’re looking at the way we as human beings are expressing an empathy with others – a thread of communication that binds us – people can be open to that – to communication and dialogue - keeping communication open and asking what that subliminal thing is that binds us all together’
