Abi Lake performing 'Paper Dress'

Map Live Evening 2010

Programme includes:

Abi Lake "Paper Dress"
Performance/installation about memory

In the space stands one performer and one dress made of paper, displayed on a dressmaker's dummy. A typewriter on the floor and A5 skirt pages scattered around the space. A CD player under the dress plays a continuous soundtrack of texts. During the performance I type new pages of 'memories' and stitch these onto the skirt. Spectators are free to move around the space and inspect the dress if they wish, or just sit and listen/watch. The dress is always present and the 'performance' as such ends when I leave, or when the audience have all gone.
Abi is also an active member of Factory Floor, a creative network for solo women writers/performers, founded in 2006 following a series of workshops and symposia at Lancaster University.

Steve Lewis
Deep Cabaret is Steve Lewis naked. No band, no digitalia. Just a voice, an electric guitar and Top Ten Sex Tips - a constantly evolving set of songs about sex, love and the point of it all whose lyrics sample spiritual and secular texts.

"Steve Lewis was stunning. He offered profound philosophical insights gleaned from texts by Jung, Don DeLilo and the label of a bottle of disinfectant."
